Maor Tel Fares collection

Our flagship Tel Fares collection is a Syrah based, red wine blend, sourced from our finest crops. This wine continues the tradition of our Syrah series, produced from 2005 to 2009.

Every year we meticulously select our top Syrah barrels and mix in Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Bordeaux to create the perfect blend. The wine ages for over two years in used oak barrels and another two years in the bottle, before finally being offered for sale.

The series is named after Tel Fares, one of the Golan Heights most popular hills.

Maor Tel Fares 2011

Maor Winery’s flagship wine, continuing the long tradition of our “Syrah” wines from 2005. A blend of 70% Syrah grapes, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Bordeaux - all sourced from the very best lots on our vineyard. The wine has undergone a long soaking process and aged for over two years in French oak barrels. It’s rich in chocolate, smoked meat, raspberries and plum flavors, and pairs well with meat dishes such as lamb. In proper storage conditions this wine will reach its peak in 2025. The series is named after the Fares Valley, which borders our vineyard from the north.

Our premium red wines are characterized by a significantly high aging capacity, when compared to other Israeli wines.

The Orha Hills Series

Our Orha Hills series includes three wines: Orha Hills Red, White and Rose. These wines appeal to a wide range of audiences and are suitable for accompanying light meals as well as festive and special occasions. They offer exceptional quality at an accessible price. The series is named after the Orha Hills, which border our vineyard from the south.

Orha Hills White

Upon establishing ourselves in Tel Fares, we began planning our white grapes vineyard. We studied the conditions in the area, compared them with data from other regions from around the world and consulted with experts.

We planted white vineyards of two varieties:

Sauvignon Blanc:

As one of the most popular white varieties in Israel, there is extensive and proven experience growing it in conditions similar to ours.

Samion:

Samion was a comparatively less obvious choice for us. While some samion vineyards in Israel produce fantastic results, most are used to produce simple wines, and are maintained accordingly. The vine itself is highly durable, healthy, easy to care for, and produces excellent Samion (and Samion/Sauvignon blanc blends) in different places around the world where there are similar growing conditions to ours.

We have been producing Orha Hills White with great pleasure since 2013. The grapes are harvested from both vineyards simultaneously, then squeezed and mixed. Fermentation is spontaneous, long and cold, and the wine sits on precipitates for several months. The result is a very dry, mineral, complex wine with a noticeable , slightly crisp feel.

The wine is usually bottled about a year after the harvest, and sold a year later.

Orha Hills 2018

A blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grapes from our Tel Fares vineyard in the east of the Golan Heights. Both plots happily cooperate with the sustainable ecological growing techniques we apply at the vineyard and produce exceptional grapes, at very low yields per acre.

The grapes are harvested from both vineyards simultaneously. They are squeezed a day apart and allow natural fermentation and long soaking on the sediment. The long and cold fermentation is spontaneous, with the wine sitting on precipitates for several months. The result is a very dry, mineral, complex wine with a noticeable, slightly crispy presence.

The wine is bottled usually about a year after it’s harvested, and sold a year later.

A complex and precise wine with a wonderful balance between minerality and delicate fruitiness. Pairs well with fish and seafood, pastas, and light meat dishes.

Duvdevani Series

Our Kosher red wine. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignonand Sirah from the premium section of our winery, this wine is created via spontaneous malolactic fermentation in barrels, and aged  for an additional a year and a half. This i a ‘new world’ type of wine, with attributes referencing the cabernet/Shiraz wines of Australia.

The Maor Series

Our flagship line since we opened in 2003 until the launch of the Tel Fares collection in 2010. Maor Cabarnet-Merlot and Maor Sirah were produced.
